This weekend I watched a movie on the life of Georgia O’keeffe. What an amazing legacy she has left us. In her 98 yrs. she produced work that was so rich, strong and powerful but also subtle and feminine at times. Inspiring to all artists but especially to women she was driven by her passions and undaunted by her challenges. Creating Art can be a lonely profession. Our friend being quiet and solitude forcing out the disquiet shouting of our deepest souls. This is what I feel from her work. To all Artists deep in the zone of creating I salute you and thank you for your commitment and sacrifice to georgia-okeeffethe enrichment of humanity.

Yes, it’s official!

My work has been selected for Exhibit in the Finch Gallery at the Art Barn in SLC. I feel very honored and excited for this opportunity. The show will run from November 20 through December 24,2009. More details to come. Stay tuned!

The Art Barn is the home of the Salt Lake City Arts Council.  Located in Reservoir Park, near the University of Utah campus, the Art Barn has served as a community art center since its doors opened in the early 1930s.  The building houses the Finch Lane Gallery, and the Park Gallery.

On a personal note….

I was working on one of  a set of four Mandala’s that I have been working on this past month and I needed some photos of authors that have meaning to me. I found these beautiful portraits of two women authors who have influenced my life in a profound way. I read the book  A Room Of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf years ago and it helped me take charge of my life and move through a very difficult period of time. The book I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou made me fall in love with story and the magic of a perfectly written sentence. Art is limitless in the influence it has on our lives… I’m so glad it took me in this direction today. Thank you dear ladies…you have so enriched my life.
